Hum – Istria – Croatia, charmingly sittuated on a hilltop above the source of the Mirna River. It is the smallest town in the World. The economy is orienting towards tourism and agriculture. Because of it, Hum is appealing to lovers of relax in nature, but also to adventurous spirits. The town began developing in the late 11th century.

Town is enclosed by walls on the western side. The remaining sides by houses, built into the defensive walls. The city is first mentioned in documents dating 1102, under the name of Cholm.

A bell and watch tower are build in 1552. and are part of the town’s defenses as is the town loggia.

Hum’s parish church of the Assumption of Mary with classical facade is build in 1802.
The “Hum Glagolitic wall writings” are present in the church. Written in the period of Glagolitic it is one of the oldest examples of Croatian Glagolitic literary culture in the Middle Ages.

Hum is a symbol of the architecture and culture of the Middle Ages. Thanks to its shape, we can safely say that this small town is entirely a city-monument. Legend is that Hum is build from the remaining stones by giants to build cities in the Mirna River Valley.
